Taubman invented the indoor shopping mall, designing these centers with waterfalls, skylights, and welcoming store entrances. An art enthusiast and philanthropist as well, he collected impressionists and abstract expressionists and donated millions to organizations including the Detroit Institute of the Arts and U-M.
