The Alumni Association of the University of Michigan is celebrating a massive milestone this year: the organization is now 125 years young!
Since its earliest days, the Association has been an independent voice for graduates of the University of Michigan. From our travel program and bowl tours to Camp Michigania and our career program, we have been at the forefront of alumni engagement.
Today, our cutting-edge programming is made possible by our generous members, volunteers, and staff — you. Thank you to everyone who has helped make the last 125 years so impactful.
As we look forward to the next chapter of the Alumni Association, we will continue our strong traditions and aim to start bold and fresh new ones. We have set the bar for sure — now, we are resetting it to higher heights.
This will include a big celebration this spring as we welcome new graduates — the next class of U-M alums — and connect in great ways with recent graduates. We’re also focused on alums and their families in communities where we live and work by creating Michigan Moments that connect and uplift those most important to us.
We will increase our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion by recognizing the history, culture, and traditions of marginalized communities and by partnering with the University to bring relevant, diverse programming to all of our alums.
We’ll feature inspiring programming to celebrate heritage months starting in February with Black History Month, Women’s History Month in March, and more from there. This will include book clubs, data-based discourse with campus and industry leaders, community service, special weekend retreats at Camp Michigania, and so much more.
We know that diversity enriches the entire campus community. That’s why we have such a deep commitment to growing the LEAD Scholarship program — more to come!
We also want to provide support for alums in every stage of life, whether that’s career development, personal wellness, or retirement planning.
Throughout the year, we’ll bring you inspiring stories of alums and a behind-the-scenes peek as we start this work.
And one last thing: no birthday is complete without a party. So here’s your official save-the-date card. Sept. 23 is homecoming weekend, and we’re planning something big — kicked off by a podcast series with a surprise special alumni guest … stay tuned for more! We are calling on all alums to come home for a celebration and a party that you won’t soon forget.
