The challenges born of being among the first women accepted into U-M’s College of Engineering did not deter Irma M. Wyman, ’49, HDENG’07. She went on to join a startup in Boston that was bought by Honeywell and became vice president in 1982. A few months after retiring in 1990, she followed through on a decades-old calling and became the first archdeacon for the Episcopal Diocese of Minnesota. The U-M Center for the Education of Women established a scholarship in her name in 1996.
