A University of Michigan Engineering team has developed a new way to observe how powerful lasers compress materials. Led in part by recent Ph.D. graduate Mario Balcazar and professor Alec Thomas, the work could inform efforts to advance fusion technology and deepen understanding of how materials behave under extreme conditions.
