Lockable phone pouches have become a popular tool for middle and high schools trying to reduce distractions from personal cell phones. Results have been mixed: while the pouches showed no effect on attendance, test scores, or classroom attention, teacher satisfaction and student well-being improved. In this research spotlight from the Institute for Social Research, Ford School Youth Policy Lab director Brian Jacob discusses what the findings mean for student achievement.
