Technology has transformed healthcare, expanding telehealth and giving patients easier access to prescriptions, lab results, and provider communication. Yet a recent U-M study found that 29% of hospitals offer patient portals only in English. In this Institute for Healthcare Policy and Innovation research spotlight, lead author Debbie W. Chen, M.D., of the U-M Medical School, urges hospitals to work with vendors to improve non-English language access.
