As a U-M student-athlete in the 1970s, Sheryl Szady helped push for greater recognition of women’s varsity sports, including equal treatment of female letterwinners. Her fight over the Block M continued long after graduation, becoming part of a larger story about women’s athletics, tradition, and recognition at Michigan.
