The need for therapies that can repair or prevent damage for the millions of people worldwide living with neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and ALS is immense. Researchers at the U-M College of Pharmacy are developing a promising new approach to treatment that focuses on overcoming the blood–brain barrier, which often prevents therapeutic doses of drugs from reaching the brain.
