From heat waves and hurricanes to wildfires and poor air quality, climate change is increasingly affecting our health and the health care systems on which we rely. U-M researchers are studying these impacts, including how climate-related disasters strain care delivery and worsen existing health issues. Through the new Sandy-Hassmiller Climate & Health Initiative, IHPI aims to expand interdisciplinary research, prepare future leaders, and help translate evidence into policy- and practice-ready solutions.
