Every three to four hours we’re awake, a nagging sense of weakness and irritability overtakes our senses. Hunger cues are critical in helping our bodies maintain homeostasis or a balance in our internal systems. Rackham neurobiology doctoral student Yijun Gui studies how brain neurons and receptors instigate food-seeking behaviors and how those behaviors are impacted in those living with eating disorders, with hopes of developing new therapeutics for individuals living with anorexia nervosa.
