Recurrent UTIs? A Gentamicin Bladder Instillation May Be the Answer

While they only affect a small subset of the world’s population, recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs) can be incredibly bothersome. A method pioneered at the University of Michigan provides hope to patients with recurrent UTIs. Anne Pelletier Cameron, M.D., discusses gentamicin bladder instillation, a treatment where the antibiotic is used as a bladder wash, providing a targeted approach without systemic absorption, thus avoiding risks like antibiotic resistance.
