A University of Michigan research team, led by Allen Lee, M.D., M.S., assistant professor of internal medicine, suggests that persistent symptoms in patients with inactive Crohn’s disease may be linked to an overgrowth of sulfur-producing bacteria in the gut. These microbes could affect gut function, even in the absence of inflammation, offering new insights into why symptoms persist in some patients and potentially guiding future treatments.
