As natural disasters become more common, disruptions in healthcare continue to affect the most vulnerable of populations – including older adults living with cognitive impairment. A new study by Michigan Medicine highlights the challenges faced by people living with mental impairments during natural disasters, showing that they face higher risks of injury and hospitalization, especially in the days immediately following a disaster.
