New Study Finds More Than One Billion People Worldwide Live in Energy Poverty

According to a new paper, 1.18 billion people across 115 developing countries are energy-poor and do not use electricity in a meaningful way that impacts their daily lives. “Energy poor” can mean anything from not having access to electricity at all, to being unable to use an existing connection because of frequent power outages, unreliable electricity supply, or unaffordable rates.
