According to the U.N.’s Food and Agriculture Organization, about a third of the food produced globally every year goes to waste, while approximately 800 million people suffer from hunger. However, a new study conducted by a U-M research team shows that increasing the amount of fully refrigerated food supply chains could eliminate both food waste and related emissions of climate-warming greenhouse gases a significant amount.
