Researchers at the University of Michigan have developed histotripsy, a non-invasive liver cancer treatment that not only destroys tumors but also appears to stimulate the immune system to fight cancer more broadly. Using sound waves, histotripsy targets tumors while improving conditions that help the immune system work more effectively. Led by Dr. Anutosh Ganguly, the team’s findings suggest potential benefits beyond liver cancer, with hopes to expand its use alongside other therapies.
