U-M researchers are one step closer to understanding how Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and other neurodegenerative diseases work. A recent study has helped identify an unknown material running along the length of structures in the brain called fibrils, which are known to be connected to several neurodegenerative diseases. Senior study author Ursula Jakob explains what this new finding means for neurodegenerative disease research in an article for Michigan News.
