Filling A Gap U M Dental Students Help Combat Michigans Shortage Of Rural Dentists 4
Presented by Michigan News

In Atlanta, Michigan, a small town with a population of 700 and known as the “Elk Capital” of the state, dental care options are limited, much like in many rural areas. Local dentists are few, and many no longer accept Medicare or Medicaid. However, one organization helping expand dental care options in northern Michigan is the Thunder Bay Community Health Clinic, which works with interns from the University of Michigan’s School of Dentistry. Through their Community-Based Collaborative Care program, the dental school is providing much-needed care to underserved communities with limited access to dental professionals.
