Throughout human history, people have devoted considerable thought to the concept of democracy—trying to understand what it truly is and isn’t. However, fewer efforts have been made to measure democracy in a rigorous, replicable, and transparent way. In this Year of Democracy, Civic Empowerment, and Global Engagement event, political science experts Michael Coppedge and Debra Horner will discuss the methods developed to answer questions such as, “How democratic is the world today?”
