Cultural anthropologist Ruth Behar will deliver the 2025 Henry Russel Lecture, exploring the power of shared stories to connect people across borders. Drawing from her personal experiences as an immigrant from Cuba and her anthropological work in Spain, Mexico, and Cuba, Behar will discuss the significance of storytelling in building bridges and fostering empathy, particularly in a time of uncertainty. The lecture is part of the university’s celebration of the 100th Henry Russel Lecture and will be livestreamed for the public.
