How important of a nutrition source is breastfeeding for infants? A recent Michigan Medicine study explains how lipids, or fat, in a breastfeeding individual’s blood may be connected to their baby’s nutrition. Vasantha Padmanabhan, Ph.D., emeritus professor of pediatrics and communicable diseases and obstetrics gynecology at the U-M Medical School, shares key findings, suggesting that milk transfers essential fats to infants.
