It has long been suggested that adopting a pre-sleep routine can help calm the brain and initiate sleep. A new U-M study provides novel insights into the mechanisms that control pre-sleep behaviors and, subsequently, sleep initiation. Ada Eban-Rothschild, assistant professor of psychology and neuroscience and the study’s senior author, discusses the findings and potential benefits for those that have difficulty falling asleep.
