The legacies of racial discrimination have subjected Black communities in the United States to environmental harms at a disproportionate rate. As a result, these communities face a higher incidence of various negative health effects, ranging from birth defects to heart problems, compared to the general population. In this edition of 5Qs, Michigan Law professor Rachel Rothschild discusses the development of a new framework for regulating toxic chemicals and the ongoing fight for environmental justice.
