According to a study from University of Michigan researchers, a large number of Americans, 15 million to be exact, consume supplements that contain potentially hepatoxic botanical ingredients. Alisa Likhitsup, M.D., M.P.H., a clinical assistant professor of medicine at U-M and lead author of a new paper, discusses her findings, hoping to increase awareness that over-the-counter supplements are not regulated or tested and how little we know about supplements.
