U-M Club of Southwest Florida: Scholarship Information

ABOUT OUR SCHOLARSHIP GRANT PROGRAM

One of the purposes of our Alumni Club is to raise funds to support, through scholarships and grants, students from Southwest Florida enrolled full-time at the University of Michigan.  Presently, we offer a $1,000 per academic year ($500 per term) scholarship to students who are residing in Collier or Lee counties and have graduated from a public or private high school or the equivalent home school/diploma granting program in these counties.  Students residing in any adjacent communities that may not be in Collier or Lee County may be considered at the discretion of the board. First year students are eligible once they have enrolled at the University, typically on or before 1 May.  First year and continuing students are asked to complete an annual application and maintain their contact information with the club scholarship chair.  Students must maintain satisfactory academic progress standards, as defined by the Office of Financial Aid. The scholarship grant is renewable for up to four years

The Scholarship grant is not need-based or competitive. Funds for the program are raised by individual contributions to the fund as well as special events designated for this purpose and any community, corporate, or University programs available for this purpose. The funds are held at the University and distributed directly to the accounts of eligible students, who have been confirmed by the Club.
