University of Michigan engineers have unveiled a new MRI method that maps how fluid moves within a single 3D pixel of the brain. Led by biomedical engineering researcher Luis Hernandez-Garcia, the technique offers a detailed view of the brain’s waste-clearing glymphatic system, which is linked to Alzheimer’s and other neurodegenerative diseases, opening new possibilities for understanding how these conditions begin and progress.
