University of Michigan researchers are beginning a three-year, USDA-funded study to develop new drug candidates to address highly pathogenic avian influenza, a virus affecting poultry, wildlife, livestock, and, in rare cases, humans. The project brings together expertise in medicinal chemistry, virology, and drug design to better prepare for viral mutation and resistance while supporting agriculture and public health.
