A Michigan Medicine study shows that combining lactulose therapy with tai chi can significantly reduce falls in patients with cirrhosis, a condition that affects over 2 million Americans. In the 24-week LiveSMART Trial, patients receiving both interventions had fewer injurious and non-injurious falls compared to a control group, highlighting practical tools to improve safety and quality of life for these patients. The findings emphasize the value of patient-informed interventions in managing complications of chronic liver disease.
