Substance use among young and midlife adults is nearing all-time highs, according to new U-M research. While alcohol remains the most commonly used substance across all age groups, cannabis and nicotine use are steadily increasing. In this research spotlight from the Institute for Social Research, professor Megan Patrick highlights the importance of tracking substance use behaviors to help shape public health priorities and policy.
