Motor vehicle crashes are a leading cause of death for children under 18, with nearly 200 pediatric patients treated for crash-related injuries at Michigan’s C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in the past five years. As of April 2, 2025, Michigan implemented new child passenger safety laws, including stricter guidelines on car seat use, to reduce injuries. Although these changes aim to ensure better child restraint practices, will they be enough to make a real difference?
