Mastering Mindfulness as Your Greatest Tool

Course Overview
The Alumni Association and Michigan Online have partnered to offer an exclusive course for U-M alums, “Mindfulness, Dignity, and the Art of Human Connection.” Led by Professor Ram Mahalingam, director of U-M’s Barger Leadership Institute, this course helps you harness mindfulness as a tool to manage stress, strengthen your relationships, or gain a deeper understanding of yourself and the world around you.
What Makes this Course Unique
- The course is free and self-paced, with access to the asynchronous course beginning on April 2. (While coursework is set around a suggested four-week schedule, it can be accessed for a total of eight weeks.)
- It offers an interdisciplinary approach to mindfulness, covering Buddhist psychology, critical theory, contemplative studies, and the major aspects of the Banyan Tree mindset framework.
- You’ll explore current research and learn mindfulness practices, such as meditation, art, poetry, photovoice, and journaling.
