Gary Tyler, wrongfully imprisoned for 42 years, uses his quilts to address mass incarceration, drawing on his experiences at Angola State Penitentiary. His art, which reflects themes of resilience and social justice, has earned him awards, including an honorary Doctorate in Art and Design. His work is featured in collections like the Smithsonian and showcased in exhibitions such as the Annual Exhibition of Artists in Michigan Prisons.
