The July Clements Bookworm conversation focused on a beloved part of campus: the Michigan Law Quad, featuring Margaret A. Leary, author of Giving It All Away: The Story of William W. Cook and His Michigan Law Quadrangle. Cook not only gave his alma mater the finest physical facility of any existing law school but also donated permanent resources that would permit the law school to engage in groundbreaking legal research. Leary places Cook’s story in the rich social and cultural context of his time, painting a fascinating portrait of a complex figure whose legacy continues to shape the University of Michigan.
The Alumni Association of the University of Michigan was a proud sponsor of this event.
