Higher Education Responds to Changing Labor Markets

How do higher education institutions decide what courses to offer students? Turns out, the labor market plays a role. In a recent study, the U-M Education Policy Initiative found that a 1% increase in demand for jobs in a particular field led to 1.3% greater course-taking and degrees in that field.
