Once regarded as a jewel of the University of Michigan’s library collection, “Galileo’s Manuscript” is found to be forged. For almost a century, it was believed that Galileo wrote the document in 1609 and 1610, but recent dating of the paper revealed it to be a 20th-century fraud created by well-known forger Tobia Nicotra.
