An accomplished economist, Shah was appointed in 2017 to serve as president of The Rockefeller Foundation. The organization, whose mission is to support international philanthropic medical research and promote the well-being of humanity, is the second-oldest major philanthropic institution in the U.S. Shah’s previous roles include serving at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and serving as administrator for the United States Agency for International Development under President Barack Obama. Shah serves on the Board of Directors of the Alumni Association of the University of Michigan.
