Exercise can reduce your cancer risk and improve treatment outcomes, but many people need help getting started. Angela Fong, an oncology health specialist at the University of Michigan, recommends starting small, such as with a short walk, and then gradually increasing intensity. Other strategies to encourage consistent exercise include setting reminders, finding an exercise buddy and treating workouts like appointments while being mindful of potential barriers like time, motivation and access to equipment.
