Unequivocal bias against minorities remains a persistent issue in policing. The Ford School of Public Policy partnered with the rideshare platform Lyft to study racial profiling in speed limit enforcement. The findings were alarming: police were 33% more likely to issue speeding violations to minority drivers compared to their white counterparts, despite no noticeable differences in driver behavior.
