Charging Electric Vehicles 5x Faster In Subfreezing Temps EV Charging 1536x861

Charging in cold weather? It’s no longer a concern for potential EV consumers. Engineers at the University of Michigan have developed a modified manufacturing process for electric vehicle batteries, enabling high ranges and fast charging in cold weather without compromising the energy density of lithium-ion batteries. The result? EV drivers could save over 30 minutes in charging time. Neil Dasgupta, U-M associate professor of mechanical engineering and materials science and engineering, provides insights on the breakthrough in an interview with Michigan News.
