A collaboration between the University of Michigan School of Public Health, Apple, and the World Health Organization is exploring how everyday sound exposure affects hearing and health. Led by U-M professor Rick Neitzel, the Apple Hearing Study has gathered data from over 160,000 iPhone and Apple Watch users to track noise levels and headphone use. The findings will inform the WHO’s “Make Listening Safe” initiative and support efforts to prevent hearing-related health issues worldwide.
