Rural ERs, Despite Closure Threats, Save Lives at Similar Rate as Urban Hospitals

Hospitals in rural areas have begun to shrink in numbers as over one hundred have closed since 2010. This means people in who live in these areas face a lack of emergency care. A new Michigan Medicine study found that there is not a significant difference of mortality outcomes between rural and urban ERs.
