Doctors often have to share negative news with patients related to diagnoses, particularly those who have been diagnosed with any of the 600-some known types of cancer. Researchers from the University of Michigan and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln have developed an enhanced communication model that doctors can use, focused on verbal and non-verbal cues. Timothy C. Guetterman, Ph.D., discusses the model and how different forms of communication can help both parties in a time of need.
