Long Term Exercisers Have Healthier Belly Fat

More than expending calories, a new U-M study found that regularly exercising long-term can modify your fat tissue in ways that allow you to store your body fat more effectively. Fat stored in healthier places like under the skin, rather than in the fat tissue in or around organs, lowers the risk of diseases and cancer. Principal investigator Jeffrey Horowitz discusses the importance of the findings and his hopes for follow-up studies.
