The Supreme Court’s 2022 decision in Dobbs v. Jackson to remove federal constitutional protection for abortion rights sent shockwaves through the American healthcare system in a multitude of ways. Julie Maslowsky, an affiliate with the Institute for Social Research’s Population Studies Center, has been researching the impact of Dobbs specifically on young people, who already faced significant barriers to accessing contraception and abortion before the ruling. Maslowsky recently discussed her research for the Insights Speaker Series at ISR, covering both the persisting and new barriers adolescents face related to sexual healthcare post-Dobbs.
