Roughly 15 percent of the 900,000 people who live in assisted living facilities in the U.S. could transfer to nursing homes. But what are the risks involved with this move? A new U-M study showed a connection between better physical performance and college education with a lower risk of transfer to a nursing home. Study principal investigator Janet Larson comments on the findings for the Institute for Healthcare Policy and Innovation.
