Get Involved

Love joining fellow Wolverines at nights at the theater, soccer games, networking happy hours, or just watching football on Saturdays? All of these events, specials, and discounts are organized by an amazing group of volunteers.

The Nashville area has more than 2,200 smart and ambitious Michigan alums, and our volunteers – alumni of all ages – give their time and talent so we can bring the Michigan community together.

You can get involved in committees for nearly every interest and expertise. Whether you have ideas for programming and events, want to help get the word out, or want to help in some other way, please tell us more at https://umnash.org/volunteer-now/

We’d love to have you on the team. Go Blue!

Event Planning

Programming

The UMNASH Programming Committee brings everyone together through social, cultural, educational, and networking activities for alumni of all ages and interests. We aim to provide unique experiences to metro Nashville Wolverines, whether newly moved to the region or lifelong residents. These range from sporting events, theater outings, family-friendly events, and ice skating to distillery tours. If you like organizing fun, educational, or exciting events, please consider joining the programming team!

Game Watch

The Game Watch Committee is about bringing everyone together to enjoy Michigan athletics at local partner bars. We plan the calendar of parties, maintain relationships with the bars, and help host at the bar. The team maxes out the Wolverine spirit and pitches in with t-shirt sales, raffles, and maybe even a little DJing during halftime.

Social

The Social Committee brings everyone together with enjoyable meet-ups and hangouts. We may plan hikes, group dinners, local sports and cultural events, cooking classes, … you name it. If you’d like to find new and different ways to welcome new arrivals and engage the broadest group of local Wolverines, this is a great team to join!

Community Service, M-POWER, Annual Event, and more…

We’re not quite ready to take the wraps off these teams, but you can let us know if you’re interested in pitching in in the meantime.

Community Service will team with local organizations to give back to Music City. In the past, we’ve worked in the Second Harvest Food Bank and participated in fun runs.

M-POWER will organize professional networking opportunities for the club including panels, professional mixers, and more.

We plan to introduce an Annual Event and much more. If you have ideas, let us know and we’ll keep you posted when we’re ready to launch.

Communications

The Communications Committee promotes our events and gatherings, supports fundraising, and assists all other teams with outreach to members. We maintain the Club website, compile a member e-Newsletter, and maintain our social presence. Join us if you have an interest or experience in graphic design, marketing, or communications.

Treasurer

We currently have an opening on the leadership team for a Treasurer, the unsung hero of the Club! The Treasurer handles Club finances, from treasury to accounting and reporting. They handle payments and work with the committees on their budgets, as needed. It’s an incredibly valuable role for an experienced, detail-oriented individual to help lead the Club.

Development/Fundraising

We plan to create this committee in the future.

Alumni Student Recruitment

The ASR team engages with local high schools and oversees the process for awarding our club scholarship to area students. To do this, we annually prepare an application that is distributed to local high schools and made available on our website, organize a team of club members who review and comment upon the applications, and interview finalists for the award.
