The Alumni Student Ambassadors Program (ASAP) is designed to increase student awareness of the Alumni Association of the University of Michigan, the benefits it provides and the programs we offer. Student Ambassadors will serve as a link between the Alumni Association and current U-M students. We’re looking for outgoing, enthusiastic and friendly students to serve in this leadership role. Ambassadors are unpaid volunteers who will help promote the events, activities, and services offered by the Alumni Association. You’ll attend meetings, collaborate with fellow ambassadors to get the student community engaged with the Alumni Association and interact with Association members, alumni, and guests at events.


  • Develop leadership, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Meet new people and get connected to resources on campus
  • Participation in Alumni Association programs and events
  • Increased knowledge about Alumni Association resources, programs and benefits
  • Earn volunteer hours and letters of recommendation


  • Promote Alumni Association student programs at campus events and via social media
  • Make presentations to student groups about Alumni Association resources and activities
  • Host alumni, students, donors and U-M guests at Association events
  • Provide insight and feedback on U-M student interests and trends
  • Serve as peer network among U-M student body and increase awareness about
  • Alumni Association programs and benefits

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be a currently-enrolled student in good academic standing with the University of Michigan
  • Must be able to attend ambassador training and meetings
  • Students will be expected to represent the Alumni Association and University of Michigan by maintaining a positive image in person and digitally
  • Ambassadors will be expected to make a minimum of three (3) presentations to student groups per semester, and participate in at least two Alumni Association events per semester
