Gastrointestinal bleeding is related to the use of medications such as NSAIDS, or anti-inflammatory drugs. These drugs, like ibuprofen and naproxen, are commonly used and prescribed to people suffering from heart disease. Jacob E. Kurlander, MD, MS, assistant professor and gastroenterologist at Michigan Medicine and the VA Center for Clinical Management Research, talks about PPIs and how they are underutilized in the prevention of GI bleeding.
