Rachel O’Reggio felt the impacts of COVID-19 as she took a leave of absence from U-M Medical School her first year. She was able to find a mentor in Michael Englesbe, MD, a transplant surgeon who is involved in medical student education. He offered her a research position, allowing her to finish requirements to continue medical school.
