You’ve probably heard of a bail bond before but might not be as familiar with bail funds. In an article for The Conversation, Matthew Bakko, a U-M Ph.D. candidate in social work and sociology, along with a colleague, explore bail funds, which pool money from donors to pay bail for people who can’t afford it. Bakko explores the history of bail funds, why they are often the better option, and why they are important.
